I Will Celebrate!

We have something to celebrate about.

We don't celebrate our organization (it's His church, not ours).

We don't celebrate our doctrine (it's the recipe, not the results).

We don't celebrate our righteousness (it's as filthy rags).

We celebrate--Jesus!

Psalms 149 is a song of celebration. It seems to contain a command to the leaders to allow the saints to rejoice and praise God freely. The word "let" means allow, and we take the liberty to use this word below:

"Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

Allow Israel to rejoice in him that made him: allow the children of Zion to be joyful in their King.

Allow them to praise his name in the dance: allow them to sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautiful the meek with salvation.

Allow the saints to be joyful in glory: allow them to sing aloud upon their beds.

Allow the high praises of God to be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

To execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord."

"Honor" means "privilege." We are His people. Those who do not truly know and belong to Jesus do not celebrate Him, nor do they have a right to. But we have the privilege and honor to do so. And through high praises and the Word of God, and our exuberant worship, we send the devil running. So let's do it!
